कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी ने 13 अगस्त को नई दिल्ली में आयोजित रचनात्मक कांग्रेस के राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन में प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की विदेश नीति पर तीखा हमला बोला। उन्होंने कांग्रेस नेता संदीप दीक्षित को गले लगाकर मोदी की विदेशी नेताओं के साथ मुलाकातों और कथित ‘हग डिप्लोमेसी’ का मजाक उड़ाया। इस दौरान दीक्षित ने इटली की प्रधानमंत्री जॉर्जिया मेलोनी का जिक्र करते हुए मजाक किया, जिस पर कार्यक्रम में मौजूद लोगों के बीच हंसी गूंज उठी। भाजपा नेताओं ने राहुल गांधी के इस अंदाज की आलोचना करते हुए इसे ‘घटिया स्तर’ की राजनीति बताया। राहुल गांधी ने अपने संबोधन में ईरान, अमेरिका और रूस के साथ भारत के संबंधों का जिक्र करते हुए कहा कि पश्चिम एशिया संकट के दौरान भारत के पास मध्यस्थता का अवसर था, लेकिन पाकिस्तान ने वह भूमिका हासिल कर ली। उन्होंने चीन और अरुणाचल प्रदेश में भारतीय गश्त को लेकर भी मोदी सरकार पर गंभीर सवाल उठाए।
